On Tuesday, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) announced committee assignments for members of the House Republican Caucus. House Assistant Minority Leader Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) was assigned to serve on the House Gaming, Labor & Commerce, Police & Fire, and Transportation: Rail Systems, Roads & Bridges Committees. He will also lead Republicans on the Cities & Villages Committee as House Republican Spokesperson.

“I am looking forward to diving right into these committees and getting to work for the people of the 20th District this spring,” Rep. Stephens said. “Issues ranging from labor, supporting first responders, maintaining strong cities and infrastructure, and regulating gaming in our state are important to my constituents and all Illinoisans. I am eager to bring forth the views of our northwest side and suburban communities in these debates and to my leadership in the Cities & Villages Committee.”

Rep. Stephens brings a unique perspective to his spokesperson role on the Cities & Villages Committee as CEO and mayor of Rosemont following his experience as a village trustee for 18 years prior to becoming mayor. He also brings the experience as a member of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Pace Bus Board of Directors, and as a carpenter in the beginning of his career. He also served as a trustee and supervisor of Leyden Township.

“I encourage my constituents to reach out to my office on these and any issues impacting their lives,” Rep. Stephens continued. “I welcome all feedback and input from the 20th District to ensure their views are fairly represented in our statehouse.”

The 20th District is located on the far northwest side of Chicago and in the northwest suburbs. Rep. Stephens was sworn into his second full term in the House of Representatives and was appointed House Assistant Minority Leader by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie in January 2023. He was first appointed to replace outgoing State Representative Michael McAuliffe in July 2019. Rep. Stephens has previous experience serving on the Cities & Villages, Labor & Commerce, Police & Fire, and Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges Committees.
