The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs by the Union Pacific Railroad to a crossing on Devon Avenue between Avondale Avenue and Northwest Highway in Chicago will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Monday, July 24.
A detour will direct traffic to Avondale Avenue, Palatine Avenue, Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) and Northwest Highway.
The work is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 25.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
