Located near the confluence of the Mississippi and Apple Rivers in northwestern Illinois, the 2,500 acre Mississippi Palisades State Park is rich in Native American history. Activities include camping, cross country skiing, fishing, geocaching, hiking trails, hunting, metal detecting, rock climbing, and picnicking.

Nauvoo State Park

On the banks of the Mississippi River in Hancock County include a 13-acre lake with a mile-long shoreline. People can fish, boat, camp, hike, and celebrate its annual grape festival. There is also a museum that includes a wine cellar open to the public!

Mississippi River State Fish & Wildlife Area

This park includes 15 wildlife management areas and 13 public access areas scattered along 75 miles of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Hunters, fishermen, boaters, and birdwatchers can enjoy the beauty of the area. Picnicking and canoeing is also available.

Pyramid State Recreation Area

Pyramid State Recreation Area is the largest IDNR-managed site in Illinois and derives its name from a coal mine that once existed there! With over 500 acres of water and many can be reached only by foot, this park offers an opportunity for the angler to get away from the crowds. Other activities include an archery range, boating, camping, equestrian trails, fishing, hiking trails, hunting, metal detecting, and mountain bike trails.

Lifelong resident and supporter of the 20th District, Representative Bradley A. Stephens was sworn in on June 29, 2019.
